My research expertise is in fungal genetics. I completed my PhD at the University of Melbourne initially looking at the plant pathogen Leptosphaeria maculans but quickly branching out to cover several other interesting topics including genetic manipulation of the genus Paecilomyces and studying the diversity of early diverging fungi in Australia. Since my PhD I have continued to work on a number of these themes. In particular, I am now focused on better characterising the Starship transposons of Paecilomyces.
